A jerk that cares a lot about his nerd baby brother.

[But he'll hug him so tight, he's been so worried. Gonna hug him so tight and not let him go. At least until one of them has to breathe, but once Hiro's sagging, he works to hold him upright.]

So, yeah. Good news is you're immune like me, it looks like.

[ Hiro forces himself on his tiptoes to keep hugging then. He's just - glad and so very grateful to be able to hug his brother again. It had been awful quiet in that quarantine room. ]

So we can get working on that cure then, huh?

[He finally moves to rest a hand on top of his brother's head, letting him steady there.]

Yeah. We're gonna get to working on that cure. Lots of others that need help.

[ He nods against his brother then. Wiping at his face just a bit. ]

Who better than us, huh? Shoulda known we'd be too smart for the virus to affect us.

Heh. Well - I mean..

[Every death-defying experience he's had here, he's chalked up to "Fate won't let me die here because I'm going to die back home," but he can't really explain Hiro's immunity.]

We're not exactly biochemists or anything. Pretty sure Winry or doctor Snow have that covered? But we could help them, I think.

[ Sheer dumb luck, probably. ... Or just some similarity in their genes that happened to repeat itself between the two of them. Hiro sobers, though, at Tadashi's comment. ]

[ Hiro bows his head a bit. ]

Over a week ago. So, by now ...

Oh man...

[He rubs at the back of his neck, looking around the room. So just Snow and them, that he knows are working on it. He's not sure who else, he hasn't looked at the network much.

Well. Except one thing he saw. He's not sure he wants to bring up the conversation he saw Hiro having with Crane - partly for Hiro's sake but also partly because he doesn't feel like being angry all over again right now.]

So we're working double time then.

[ Probably for the best; Hiro hasn't breathed a word about seeing a therapist, and really he doesn't intend to. Explaining why he was talking to Crane in the first place would be beyond him right this second. ]

Yeah. Yeah, pretty much.

[ He tries to lighten his tone a little. ]

Good news is, apparently I'm so smart it counts as a superpower, so, y'know. I have to be able to help you figure something out.

[Oh everyone's god, Hiro, he is having to stop and ask a million questions, how do you talk to so many people.]

Do what. Wait, is that what you were shouting at someone about at the comm the other day?

[Yeah, Tadashi was like. Five feet away when his brother was yelling at Callaghan. Whoops.]

[ Being stuck in a room with his comm is SUPER BORING okay. What were you expecting. He winces at that. ]

I - uh. Yeah. Yeah, it was.

[ And his expression sours a little. ]

Callaghan has a second power. Guess what it does.

If you say "steal powers"...

[Then the Porter really does have a horrible horrible sense of humor at this entire group's expense.]

Yeahhhh. That's how my microbots were still moving even after I was knocked out. Callaghan stole my powers and then used 'em to cover.

[ He still sounds angry, though he's at least come to terms with the fact that Callaghan's plan was smart, perhaps even necessary. ]

So DNA limiters are going in every single piece of tech I build for myself. From now on.

That... Is an excellent plan.

[There's that weird feeling again? That thing, in the back of his mind that he got when reading Crane's conversation with Hiro, he hears it's this thing called "anger". Dunno what that is, must be new.

He's definitely going to have a long, long talk with Callaghan when they meet up next week. Ground rules are officially being set.]

If you want, I can help you go back and put them on your other stuff too.

... Yeah, okay. That'd be good. Thanks, bro.

[ And he relaxes a bit. That will take care of his number one concern; he's way less angry about having his intelligence stolen, somehow. Mostly because it's really hard to conceptualize. Which ... reminds him, actually. ]

He got my intelligence too. Said it made everything look kind of weird. Seeing applications for stuff everywhere? Patterns and - figuring things out?

[ And his tone here is clearly not "seeing applications is weird" but rather "but seriously is NOT seeing that stuff normal???" ]

[He hears the tone but honestly he's hearing kill bill-esque sirens in his head. Not only did Callaghan take Hiro's technokinesis and then use his machines but his intelligence too? Something that's as much a part of who Hiro is as a person as Hiro's love for gummy bears and robot anime?

Mmmmost people don't see stuff like that. I only see some stuff like that, but not everything. Usually only when I'm intending to look for patterns or ways to work around things.

[ Hiro senses the tension in his brother even if he can't put a finger on why, exactly. So, he tries to stay casual. ]

Then I guess this is it, huh. Definitive proof that I'm smarter than you.

And when have I ever said you weren't? I'm constantly telling people here you're smarter than me.

That's still different from proof. Your brother's officially a super genius.

[tadeadshi]

[It's beginning. He knew one day his little brother's ego would get so big, it would implode on itself and here it is. He's witnessing it right in front of him.]

[ Such an angry squeak. ]

[ Nope, he really wasn't. And he has a sneaking suspicion that the height he saw himself as during that whole ordeal ? Is as tall as he's ever gonna get. ]

[Tadashi has that same suspicion. But now that the situation's been defused, they can get to work. They always do better when they have a laugh first.

Also first he's sending off a message to Honey Lemon to let her know they're both fine now.]

[ Huff. But he's relaxed now, the terrors of the week safely behind him. ]

... Yeah, me too. It's - really scary, thinking you might die and there's nothing you can do about it.

[ He gets it now, bro. ]

[Does Hiro really though? That knowledge that he might (will probably) die and nothing he can do about it with the additional fact that everyone he knows confirms he dies?

It's tough. And he truly hopes Hiro never has to experience it at that level.

Suddenly cleaning up these test materials is a lot more interesting.]
