[ Ellie realizes the shift quickly herself, eyes meeting with their legs that are now pressing together. Oh man... ]
[ It's... Weird. It's all weird. This whole relationship is weird and she thinks it's probably just her awkward discomfort with people in general that's causing it. But she couldn't be sure. Still, Ellie smiles to his response, warmed to hear that someone likes her that much. ]
[ She's not sure why she's doing it, why she's looking Hiro in the eyes and then at his mouth, at the gap in his teeth that she finds kind of charming. But Ellie feels a curiosity that has her inching closer, face closing distance with his own. ]
[ This is it, isn't it. He's going to actually kiss someone he likes for the first time. Now that he's faced with it, he's nervous - heart hammering in his ears, breath caught somewhere between his lungs and his mouth. Is he supposed to be good at this? Has Ellie kissed anyone else before? He has no idea what to do.
Except, maybe, lean forward to meet her. It's awkward; he doesn't think to tilt his head, so this is probably going to clash. ]
[ Ellie is... Partially skilled in this. Partially. She's not sure if kissing a girl counts as practice for a boy or... If you do it the same way. Or if there's a wrong way to do it for either. She gets caught up in that thought and-- ]

[ They bump noses. Awkwardly. Ellie pauses a moment while her nose is pressed against his. ]
[ If he wasn't red before, he sure is now. Geez, Hiro, get it together. He pulls back a bit, just enough for him to refocus on her without his eyes crossing. ]

[ This time, when he leans in he kind of gets a better angle. A serviceable one, anyway. ]
[ Ellie remembers her first kiss being awkward but not... This. Not at all. In fact, in comparison to this? She was pretty damn smooth. But it's somehow... Different this time. Like she's almost uncomfortable or just... ]
[ Maybe she finally hit that puberty thing she keeps hearing about. Isn't that when dudes are supposed to be even stranger? ]
[ She makes a little sound of confusion when he adjusts, because her adjustment doesn't quite support his. Their positions are strange and there's a lot of hesitation until it seems they're finally on the same page. ]
[ Finally, she figures they've been awkward enough for this forever-span of two seconds. Her eyes close, still rather tense before finally taking the plunge. Ellie's lips gently press against Hiro's mindful of teeth clashing because she at least is able to think about that last second. ]
[ That's for the best, especially if they don't want to just lurch apart again. He makes himself close his eyes and relax a little. Not bad ... He's not sure what the big fuss is over, but it's kind of nice all the same. It makes his heart pound for a different reason. ]
[ Is an absolute bummer. Ellie is silent as she sits through the kiss, brief though it may be. But the five seconds it happens she feels... Nothing. It's nice to be this close to Hiro because she absolutely cares for him but. ]
[ It's... Strange. The way his lips feel aren't as soft and full as she'd imagined they would be. The peach fuzz on his face prickles at her lips and leaves them tingling, feeling strange as they part. What she'd experienced when she had kissed Riley? Not even close. ]
[ Ellie slowly breaks it, face hovering a mere two inches from Hiro's as she tries to string together the right emotions. She doesn't feel right. She feels kind of... Well, bad. Bad that she isn't excited about this and bad that she can't figure out why. But she tries to make face, to smile before he catches that. ]
[ Hiro, meanwhile, is still giddy enough that he misses some of that; he only catches the tail end of her uncertain expression. By then he's already flushed and excited as he adjusts to the thought that kissing can be fun. It was kind of nice...
And then he sees that look. Immediately his grin fades a little and takes on an uncertain pallor. ]
[ Ellie's face is red with the same level of embarrassment, but that giddiness is missing completely. She backs away a tad, shoulders hiking up to her ears. ]
Y-Yeah.
Yeah, it... It was great.

[ He can sense that something is off, and his paranoia won't let it completely escape his notice. But - he's happy too, incredibly so. Maybe she's just a little nervous. It had to have been just as nice for her too, right? ]
