Close enough, yeah. Their 3-D printing isn't quite up to what it should be, but I can fix that. Once I get that ironed out, you'll really see some crazy things happening.
[ He watches Tadashi from his bed, a little guiltily. ]
... Actually, I threw a bunch of wrapping paper away too. It might have gotten put in that same pile.
[ He finishes going through the bag on his lap for good measure before setting it down and flopping back against the bed. Maaaaan. He really wanted to see what powers he had too, he knows it has something to do with the buzzing.]
[ He reaches to get his comm out of his pocket and holds it above his head, feeling the now-familiar tingling sensation in his fingertips and the faint buzz in his ears.]
Like a weird hum? Gets stronger the longer I hold this thing.
[ Did you miss these talks, Hiro, because there's more where it came from. But he watches Hiro mess around with his phone, all the feeling and buzzing gone now. ]
I was testing it some earlier at the party and it only happens when I touch it. [ Or anything else with mechanical bits, he noticed when he set the alarm on his desk clock. ] Gotta be some other test we can try without risking destroying your stuff.
[ It is kind of nice, actually. He's kind of just pleasantly happy all through this, especially when Tadashi pulls a typical brother move. ]
So let's grab something I've already half-destroyed. There's plenty of junk in here I wouldn't mind losing. Here, I've got a failed Baymini I screwed up on.
[ He floats one over. Looks like he soldered incorrectly and how the whole inside motherboard is busted beyond repair. And he can't install a new one without taking breaking the little guy apart. Poor thing. ]
[He watches it and reaches for the little guy once it's in arm's reach. And instantly the buzzing is back, and what's more, Tadashi can almost tell right away he's not in any kind of operational condition. He carefully turns it over in his hands, letting the sensations in his fingertips guide him to the problematic motherboard in question.]
Jeez... What'd you do to this poor little guy? I mean, besides solder the wrong thing.
[ Wait. Hang on. The bot isn't on, so it shouldn't be obvious that the soldered motherboard is the problem ... right? Some of its actuators are messed up too, but they're not actually broken - he just hasn't bothered to sync them up properly since the internal bits are so badly fried. ]
... That's exactly what's wrong with it. How'd you know?
[ He sits up, still holding the little mini and feeling just how badly damaged it is. He almost feels genuinely bad for it. The longer he holds it, the more he can feel the mistakes and unfinished bits.
He shrugs. ]
I don't know, I can just feel it? Like, you feel a piece of hair out of place or something stuck in your teeth? Feels like it's a part of me.
[ And that gives him pause enough to. Carefully set the mini down. ]
[ Yeah, um. Hiro's eyes do go awful wide at that. He has a horrible thought: can he hurt Tadashi like this? If he's holding onto a piece of tech with his powers active while Hiro uses his to tear something apart, what happens to his brother? ]
[ He has to think of these things, okay. All part of him being ridiculously overprotective for a while. He picks up the mini again ... then moves to place it back in Tadashi's hand. ]
Hold onto it, then. I need to try something. [ A beat. ] If - if this hurts at all, you need to tell me.
[ His brows raise just a little at that, even as he immediately feels the problems in the little bot again, faster this time like muscle memory. But his brother wants to test something and he's got more experience here than he does so it's all him. ]
[ Okay. Deep breath. He's not going to hurt his brother - he's going to test this so he won't accidentally hurt him in the future. While still keeping the bot in physical contact, he forces it to stand up and slowly wiggle its arms. ]
[ He lets Hiro do this thing, watches the mini and just feels with it. Slowly nods. ]
A little? Like... [ What's the best way to describe it? He lets himself feel it a little more. ] Like taking a stick or a pencil and rubbing it against something? Still feel it but it's distant.
[ He tenses for all of a split second and then ... nothing? He still only feels the bits in his hands. Tadashi shakes his head. He definitely felt something pull, the armature coming apart but. Best not to scare lil bro with that. ]
Nope. Still just what's in my hands, so I think you're good.
[ He specifically asked for your feedback, jeez. But since he was too busy concentrating on the bot to notice Tadashi's tensing, he relaxes in relief at that. Popping the minibot's arm back in neatly before relinquishing control again. ]
... Good. I don't want to accidentally hurt you if I disassemble something you're holding onto.
[ Since when has Hiro been that concerned about Tadashi being hurt? The kid never really gave much thought to consequences before, other than the immediate ones. ]
[ It's definitely a change of thinking, but Tadashi's chalking it up to having been here a month and had different experiences. He thumbs over the mini's face thoughtfully for a minute, then smiles back at him. ]
Just in case, how about I just hand you whatever you want to disassemble.
[ You know. For your own peace of mind, bro, and certainly not Tadashi's want to not test this theory further. ]

Oh, what?
[ He finishes going through the bag on his lap for good measure before setting it down and flopping back against the bed. Maaaaan. He really wanted to see what powers he had too, he knows it has something to do with the buzzing.]
... How'd you figure out your powers?
no subject
Kind of by accident? Stark took me down into his lab and I got this horrible, splitting headache from all the tech.
You felt anything weird so far?

[ He reaches to get his comm out of his pocket and holds it above his head, feeling the now-familiar tingling sensation in his fingertips and the faint buzz in his ears.]

Kind of like a cross between an insect and being inside an MRI machine, right?
no subject
... Yeah, something like that. How yours sounds, right?
no subject
[ Now he's kind of excited about it. ]
So you probably have some kind of technopathy or technokinesis too.
no subject
[ He looks back at the phone again, getting a fairly clear picture of the insides of it now. If he focuses enough, he can almost feel it working.
Time to put the phone down on the bed beside him. ]
You said you got headaches being around Stark's tech? I... dunno that I have what you've got, this is only when I touch it.
no subject
So maybe you've got less range but better control. Or maybe I'm just all-around better at superpowers than you.

That's ... That's a little different from mine.
no subject
[ But Tadashi is all smiles! Blissfully unaware of Hiro's morbid thought there. But once it's out of his hands, he doesn't feel it at all.]
Still only when I touch it, looks like.
no subject
Hold onto it, then. I need to try something. [ A beat. ] If - if this hurts at all, you need to tell me.

Okay, you got it.

Can you feel that?

How about this?
[ Again, moving slowly, he mentally apologizes to the minibot and detaches one of its arms. ]

Nope. Still just what's in my hands, so I think you're good.
