[ OK she sees the flashing lights.

DING DONG, MOTHAFUCKA.

(When Hiro answers the door she's looking down at her nails, blowing bubbles in her gum like Gogo. ]

[ No wonder he likes her. He heads down for the door and opens it for her. ]

Come on in.

[bombshelled]

[ She smiles and heads inside. ]

Hey hot shot.

[microbrobotics]

[ He grins, shutting the door behind them. ]

I need a nickname for you too.

[bombshelled]

Well use your genius brain and come up with one, then.

[ She gives him a playful nudge as she walks further inside, looking around the house. ]

[microbrobotics]

I'm thinking, I'm thinking.

[ He leads her upstairs. The downstairs isn't bad (if also very clearly inhabited by teenaged boys exclusively), but once they get up to Hiro's room ... it sure is a disaster area in here. Bits of metal stuck in the wall from using his technokinesis too hard, junk littered on almost every inch of the floor, et cetera. Once he enters, though, he concentrates for a moment and everything lifts up into the air. Then there's a recognizable pattern to his madness. He uses his powers to give himself a 3-D workshop. ]

[ She's almost impressed by the state of Hiro's mess. When he's not looking, she gives an experimental tug at one thing lodged in the wall to see how stuck it is (spoiler: very)

The 3D workspace is no less impressive the second time, so Lana just tries to stay out of the way while Hiro does his thing. ]

[ At least the junk moves nice and slow when he's getting it into place. Less risk of impalement.

Once the floor is clear, he wanders over to his bed and flops on it. There's a half dozen Bayminis floating above his head. ]

Okay, let's see here...

[bombshelled]

[ Not wanting to feel left out of the action, Lana goes to the bed and flops down beside Hiro. She points at one of the more completed-looking Bayminis. ]

What about that one?

[microbrobotics]

[ The newer ones are soft and squishy, made with translucent white silicone. ]

Nah, he's got a slot in his back for the SD card. Uh ...

[ He tugs one closer with his powers. There it is. ]

[bombshelled]

[ Lana vaguely recognizes the term "SD card," but lbr, she doesn't know what it means.

As Hiro pulls the Baymini closer, she reaches up to pluck it out of the air. ]

This is the one?

[microbrobotics]

That's him. See the slot in the back? That's for the card. And there's a USB port next to it so you can charge him up properly.

Bring me the card back in like a week so I can look at the data.

[bombshelled]

[ Lana turns the Baymini around to examine the slot in the back.

Absentmindedly, she asks, ] Can the minis talk? Like Baymax could?

[microbrobotics]

[ Looks pretty standard. There's a small flap of silicone that fits over it so he's still squishy all around. ]

Not really. They've got a couple pre-recorded phrases, but nothing special. Most of the programming is in their object and voice recognition.

[bombshelled]

[ Squish squish. ]

So, like, he can recognize my voice?

[microbrobotics]

That's the whole idea. Try saying hello.

[bombshelled]

[ She turns the Baymini around so it's looking down at her. ]

Hello?

[microbrobotics]

[ It blinks its beady little eyes. Hello. ]

Just like that.

[bombshelled]

[ Lana beams. ]

Oh. My. God, that is so cute! I'm gonna take him with me everywhere.

[microbrobotics]

Yeah, good plan. He'll learn more that way.

[bombshelled]

[ She sits up, watching the Baymini blink and wriggle it's arms. ]

So, do I have to do anything special? Besides keep him charged and bring the card back in a week? I've never had a pet robot before.

[ She's never had a pet anything before. ]

Make him fetch stuff sometimes? That's about it. You'll probably have to show him what you want him to get and about where it is before he can do it accurately.

OK, I can do that. I'll bring him to work with me.

Where do you work?

This pharmacy in Heropa. [ She shrugs. ] It's the job they gave me when I got here. I haven't gotten around to finding a new one yet.
